Netflix is a streaming service for movies, series and TV shows. It was founded in 1997 and initially functioned as an online service for renting movies in physical media. Later the creators adopted the concept of monthly subscription, making the service popular by not charging fees for delay in returning or delivering movies. In April 2011, 23.6 million people were subscribers to the service, generating a total revenue of $1.5 billion for the year.
