TikTok has already implemented a number of tools to improve content creation. One of them is to allow users to insert automatic subtitles in videos. The feature can be activated (or deactivated) within minutes in the social network app. Below, I will show you how to do this.
How to enable automatic TikTok captions
First of all, it is important to point out that the automatic subtitle feature does not work with songs added to the video, being exclusive to speeches. There is also the possibility that this tool is not yet available in your account. If this is the case, you need to wait for the release.
That said, follow the instructions below to learn how to turn automatic TikTok captions on and off:
- Tap the “+” icon and then the red “ball” to record the video you want to insert the caption — you can also use a file from the gallery by tapping “ Upload ”;
- Tap the “✓” icon to proceed and then the “Subtitles” option on the right side;
- Once the audio is processed, the application will show the captured subtitles. If you find any misspellings or wrong words, tap the pencil icon to edit them;
- When everything is right, tap “Save” in the top right corner and then tap “Next” to share the video with your followers.
Unfortunately, the platform does not allow any type of customization in the subtitles. This means that you will be “stuck” in the presented pattern, with white letters in a slightly darkened rectangle.
How to disable automatic TikTok captions
While useful, some people don’t like or find subtitles distracting. Fortunately, the process to turn them off on any video is pretty straightforward.
- Tap on the displayed subtitle and then tap “Hide Subtitles”. If you want to reactivate them, just tap the caption icon.
Okay, now you know how to turn automatic TikTok captions on and off. This tool can be interesting for people with hearing impairment or simply for those who want to follow what is being said, but cannot hear the audio at the moment.
