Twitter is a microblogging service launched in July 2006 by Jack Dorsey. The site allows users to post messages (calls from tweets) of up to 140 characters through a variety of devices, from common PCs to sophisticated smartphones and TVs. Recently, resources have been included for shortening links and hosting images, previously provided only by other companies. In June 2011, the social network had more than 350 million users.
