Apple Watch 10 gets a bigger screen and a thinner design

Apple announced on Monday (September 9) the Apple Watch Series 10, which celebrates the smartwatch’s tenth anniversary. It has a thinner structure and a larger screen, even surpassing that of the Ultra model. The Series 10 starts at $399 in aluminium and $699 in titanium, while the Ultra 2 starts at $799.

The Apple Watch Series 10 brings the biggest design change to a smartwatch in a long time. The case (the name given to the structure of a watch) is now thinner: at 9.7 mm, it is 10% thinner than the Apple Watch 9. There is also a titanium option.

The display has been improved in OLED technology to ensure better visibility from more angles, making it easier to see the time, exercise information or notifications.

The product’s speaker has been reduced, but Apple says it has not lost any audio quality. Proof of this is that it can now play music and video audio. The battery recharges faster than previous models, promising to deliver 80% charge in up to 30 minutes.

Apple Watch Series 10 can detect sleep apnea during overnight monitoring. The diagnosis may not be as accurate as a specific medical test (the device will report “possible apnea”) and data must be collected for 30 days.

Another development is that the watch is now certified for high-speed water sports at a depth of up to 20 meters. It also has the Depth app, previously only available for the Ultra series. The product will also have features on tides and currents, to help those who enjoy water sports.

Apple Watch Ultra 3? Not yet

A “notable absence” from the presentation of the new Apple Watch was the Ultra 3. In its place, the company showed only a black version of the Ultra 2.
