How to Remove Water from an iPhone or Android Speaker

The IP67/IP68 certification guarantees water resistance, but if your phone does not have this technology and, due to some carelessness, it fell into the pool or took a heavy rain, for example, the speaker may present noises and other problems, even if you managed to save the device from the worst. Fortunately, it is possible to remove water from the sound output using apps. Below, I will show you how to do this.

The app is called “ Speaker Cleaner ” and is available for free on the Play Store. It works by emitting a sound frequency that causes an internal vibration and expels traces of water, eliminating noise and smothering caused by the liquid.

Before starting the procedure, I recommend that you place the device with the speaker facing down and keep the volume at maximum.

Follow the instructions below to learn how to get water out of your phone’s sound output:

  1. Select speaker: With the application open, tap on the “key” positioned in the middle to choose which speaker will emit the sound — keeping it on the left is the main speaker and on the right is dedicated to calls;
  2. Choose mode: The app delivers two modes: automatic and manual. The first is the default, but if you want to choose the frequency, drag it to the right and adjust the slider;
  3. Start cleaning: Select “Mode 1” or “Mode 2” and tap “Start Cleaning” — the app will start emitting frequency and display a percentage for completion of the process.

What to do when your Phone falls into water?

It is important to note that the application alone does not work miracles. In situations like this, the first recommendation is to turn off the phone as soon as possible, leaving it in an airy environment for a period between 12 and 24 hours.

To increase the chances of recovery, you can keep the device inside a pot of rice for 24 to 72 hours. Dried beans are able to absorb moisture and consequently help to remove water. Other materials are also welcome, such as silica gel packets and oatmeal.

The use of hair dryers or prolonged exposure to the sun is not recommended. Excessive heat can compromise the smartphone’s battery, accelerate oxidation reactions on the inside or even crack the screen.
