With this year’s eGaming (EGR) Marketing & Innovation Awards ceremony just around the corner – at the time of writing – we’re all getting ready to see who reigns supreme on the 30th June. Categories have been selected and nominations have been made, ensuring that the virtual competition does not disappoint!
With the excitement building, and predictions being made on who will bag an award at the 2021 ceremony, it begs the question — what exactly are the judges looking for? Whilst we can’t give you all the details, let us take you through some of the top categories and requirements that we will all be looking out for.
Bingo Marketing Campaign
Who’s on the shortlist?
- Foxy Bingo
- Paddy Power Bingo
- PlayOJO
What are the judges looking for?
In this category, the judges will be looking for the Bingo marketing campaign that has gained the most significant commercial success of brand development in the last 12 months. The top scores will be given to the campaign that shows the most creativity and the highest quality of execution.
Our prediction?
Whilst all the entries are worthy, we’re looking to the efforts of Paddy Power Bingo to snag the big win. This year, Paddy has wowed us with a competition that involves drag queens, Bingo balls and the chance to win a MINI Cooper. In terms of creativity, it will be pretty hard to beat!
Known as “Guess or Drag It Out”, contestants are asked to guess how many balls will fit inside of the car in question. Once the guesses have made, the glamorous queens will begin squeezing their balls into the MINI Cooper. As well as entertaining all those that took part, this campaign also saw direct results and emphasised Paddy Power Bingo’s inclusive brand values.
Brand of the year

- Karamba
- Monster Casino
- Novibet
- Parimatch
- PointsBet

- Sportsbet.io
- STS

What are the judges looking for?
This award will be presented to the company that has demonstrated the strongest and most consistent brand message across the last 12 months, whether that be in one or more main product areas. In particular, the judges will be looking for the power of the brand’s voice, the potential for future growth, marketing campaigns and the overall success rate of these endeavours. They will also be paying particular attention to the originality and creativity of the brand – basically, what makes them that out from the rest!
Our prediction?
This one is bound to be a close one to call, by all accounts. Based on success rates alone, we’d be surprised if Sky Betting & Gaming or Gala Bingo don’t rate highly when the winner is revealed.
Innovation in Poker
Who’s on the shortlist?
- PokerStars
- VBET
What are the judges looking for?
This award is dedicated to the operator who has demonstrated innovation through a Poker product, marketing and/or technology. Through this, there must be considerable commercial success and business growth, with originality clearly distinguishable. An impact on customer acquisition and retention will also rate highly on the judges’ priority list.
Our prediction?
With two wins under their belts from the previous competition in 2020, we’re looking to PokerStars to sweep the award for innovation yet again in this year’s event.
