The next-generation iPhone SE may have a feature that, until now, has been exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, and in a limited way: support for Apple Intelligence. It shouldn’t be in the distant future. Rumours suggest that the new iPhone SE will be announced in the first quarter of 2025.
The claim comes from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who has a long history of covering Apple’s latest releases. If he’s right about the iPhone SE, then all of the next generation of iPhones will support Apple Intelligence, the name given to the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Most likely, the company is preparing all models in the iPhone 16 line to be compatible with Apple Intelligence. As it is a secondary model, so to speak, it was expected that the next iPhone SE would not receive this feature.
But it looks like it will. However, it’s possible that more advanced AI features will only be released for the iPhone 16. In any case, it’s better that the new iPhone SE has some compatibility with Apple Intelligence than none at all.
Next iPhone SE should look like the iPhone 14
If the rumours are correct, the future iPhone SE will be similar to the iPhone 14, both in terms of hardware and appearance.
In terms of hardware, we can expect a 6.1-inch OLED screen. The processor should be more advanced than the A15 Bionic that powers the iPhone 14, otherwise, compatibility with Apple Intelligence will not be possible.
Regarding the design, it is expected that the line will finally retire the areas above and below the screen, as well as the front Home button. However, the rear should continue to house only one camera.
Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 16 lineup next month (September 2024), while the new iPhone SE is expected to be unveiled in early 2025, according to Gurman’s prediction. The phone is expected to cost around $500 in the United States.
The third and current generation iPhone SE was released in 2022. Whether with Apple Intelligence or not, it really needs to be updated, this time without looking like an obsolete smartphone.
